There are a number of different things which can affect the body negatively, one of those being stress. The unfortunate thing is, many of us are stressed out to the extent that we never really come down off of that problem and give our body the opportunity to recover successfully. Stress is behind many of the health problems that we experience, and it not only causes mental problems for those that suffer from it regularly, it can also cause a whole host of physical problems as well. Something else that stress can do is to raise our cholesterol levels considerably.

Medical science would have you believe that high levels of cholesterol are damaging to the body and can result in problems such as arteriosclerosis, heart disease and stroke. There is mounting evidence, however, that shows that it is not the imbalance of cholesterol in the body that causes these problems but rather, the cholesterol levels are indicative of the other problems that you may be experiencing. Rather than being high cholesterol which is causing these difficulties in the body, it may actually be the stress that you are feeling that is causing them. Consequently, if you are able to reduce the amount of stress that you are feeling you not only reduce your possibility of having the serious problems, you also reduce your cholesterol levels along with it.

One of the only ways for you to be able to get out from underneath the stress that you are feeling is to learn how to cope with it successfully. Very few of us have the opportunity to remove the stressful situations from our life entirely. Coping mechanisms, such as relaxation techniques and meditation are excellent things that can be done regularly in order to help you to reduce your cholesterol levels and your stress levels as well.

Something else that you might want to consider is getting some exercise on a daily basis. Exercise has also been identified as helping to lower cholesterol naturally. Along with that, it provides the body with an interior balance that helps us to be able to deal with the stress that we are under more effectively. It's a 1-2 punch that can not only help you to avoid a lifetime of medication that may or may not be necessary, it can also help you to deal with problems as they come up.
