Prandin medication is officially known as Repaglinide. It is sold under the prandin brand in America and typically comes in tablet form. Prandin medication is used to treat type 2 diabetes.

What is prandin medication?

Prandin is also known as repaglinide, it's an anti-diabetic agent. Prandin medication is only suitable to treat type 2 diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes is where your body is still producing insulin, however either not enough insulin is being produced or your body is not using it correctly. Prandin works by encouraging your body's pancreas to produce larger amounts of insulin which can then be made available in the blood stream.

Different people will be prescribed different doses of prandin medication. You should follow your doctors instructions exactly, if you don't understand them then make sure you ask your pharmacist. You should not change the dose of prandin medication yourself, only your doctor should.

If you decide to skip a meal for any reason then you should also skip the dose of prandin medication. If you want to eat an extra meal then you should take an extra dose of prandin medication. Broadly speaking whenever you have a meal you should take your prandin medication before it.

Prandin medication should be stored where it is out of the reach of young children, and where it isn't hot or moist. You should not store it in the kitchen or bathroom. Check the expiry dates on your medication before taking it, and securely dispose of any out of date prandin medication.

You should avoid drinking alcohol while you are taking prandin medication, you should also avoid other medications unless your doctor tells you that it's ok.
