Ovral administration rules

Ovral usually comes in 28-day pack containing 21 active pills and seven reminder or inactive ones. The period should appear in the third or fourth day of the inactive pills.

During the first three months of administration, you may suffer from very common side effects such as breakthrough bleeding. Usually the blood quantity is superficial; inform the doctor if it gets serious.

What to do when I miss a dose?

Ovral should be administered at the same time every day, thus the birth control efficcacy is higher than if you take it whenever you remember.

If you miss the dose within a twelve-hour interval from the regular time when you usually take it, take it right away. There will be no consequences in terms of efficiency and you are still protected against pregnancy.

If a lapse of time longer than twelve hours passes, you'll take two pills on the same day: the Ovral dose you missed and the regular one for the day in course.

You will have to use a supplementary birth control method for seven days after you missed the Ovral dose.

There is absolutely no problem if you miss one of the Ovral inactive pills; they are simply for helping you not to forget about daily administration, without containing any hormonal concentration.
