Minomycin And Micro-biologic Treatments

Many serious bacterial infections can only be treated following thorough medical investigations meant to reveal whether they are sensitive or resistant to the antibiotic treatment. This is the case of Minomycin, a powerful drug that is generally used against E coli, H. influenzae and other bacterial strains that are resistant to tetracycline treatments.
How should we use Minomycin?
Minomycin mainly acts by the inhibition of protein synthesis depending on the amount of plasma levels in the system. Clinical studies show that Minomycin action against streptococci and staphylococci resistant to tetracycline is almost 90% successful; nevertheless, as we have already pointed out, tests must be made to check the bacterial responsiveness to the antibiotic.
For respiratory tract infections Minomycin can be successfully used to treat alls sorts of bronchitis, pneumonia and even lung abscesses. There are also great results for the administration of Minomycin for laryngotracheitis and tracheo-bronchitis. Doctors also prescribe this antibiotic for some of the urinary tract infections that affect the genital area as well: cystitis, urethritis caused by gonococci, prostatitis and pyelonephritis.
Some skin infections such as infected dermatitis and furunculosis are very receptive to Minomycin, as are nose, ear and throat infections. Tonsillitis, sinusitis and all types of otitis are caused by bacterial outspread just like some of the ophthalmological afflictions associated with aerobacterial strains. Minomycin treatment should be completed properly with each of these afflictions, or you risk an over-infection resistant to antibiotics.
What special measures does Minomycin administration require?
The most important thing you need to do, like with any other antibiotic, is to respect equal time intervals when you administrate Minomycin daily. Not only does the efficiency of the treatment drop, but the bacteria may also develop resistance to it, if you do not space out the doses.
Tell your doctor about any possible kidney impairments you may suffer from; if Minomycin is not well-excreted it accumulates in the system and becomes toxic to the liver. As this drug increases plasma levels, this may affect patients with kidney problems and cause uraemia or acidosis.
Avoid sun exposure during the Minomycin treatment since there have been reported cases of increased sensitivity leading to severe sunburn. If you notice any skin erythema after spending some time in the sun, tell your doctor immediately, since photosensitivity is among the most common side effects associated with Minomycin.
Avoid driving vehicles if you experience dizziness, light-headedness or vertigo. Such symptoms are common during the first days of Minomycin administration, but they disappear soon afterwards or when you stop the treatment.
