Skelaxin improves your mobility
The drug is a moderately strong muscle relaxant and its main goal is to bring relief to muscle regions that are sometimes affected by discomfort or pain. Skelaxin works by exerting a depressant effects on the brain and has a fast action with peak plasma levels that can be reached in as little as two hours.
Skelaxin doesn't have any potential interactions with food or other drugs but it may enhance the effects of CNS depressants, alcohol and barbiturates. It is very important to avoid taking Skelaxin if you have significant kidney or liver problems.
It has no interference with motor activities used to maintain balance and it doesn't cause any muscle loss.
Although its mechanism of action is not exactly known yet, it is be probably due to general central nervous system depression. One thing is certain - Skelaxin does not have a direct action on the contractile mechanism of striated muscle, the nerve fiber or on the motor end plate. It has a sedative property and it doesn't directly relax the tense skeletal muscles in the body.
