Important Facts About The Ceftin Tablet
The Ceftin tablet may be administered whenever the patient wishes to. It does not matter if the drug is taken before or after the meal. Despite of this fact, it is well known that the active ingredients enter the bloodstream easier and the effect is observed faster if the drug is taken after meals. On the other hand, it is obligatory to take the oral suspension during the meal, if this form is preferred. The treatment must not be interrupted, unless the health care provider says so. Otherwise, people may not observe the maximum benefit. If people crush the tablet (although they are strongly recommended not to do so), they will discover that the drug has a strong bitter taste that tends to continue, even after swallowing the pill. The tablet must be swallowed entirely. If this is not possible, then the patients are recommended to take the oral suspension.
How to Store the Ceftin Tablets
The Ceftin tablets must be kept at room temperature in a sealed tight pot. Moisture may alter the effectiveness of the tablets, so it is better to avoid such conditions. On the other hand, the oral suspension may be kept both at room temperature and in the fridge. If an oral suspension is not used for ten days, it must be thrown away.
Side Effects of the Ceftin Tablet
The most frequent side effects are diaper irritation in newborns, nausea, diarrhea, allergic reactions, colitis, and blood disorders, peeling skin, kidney and liver problems. Also, some people who have followed a treatment based on the Ceftin Tablet experienced yellowing of the skin and eyes. This health condition is best known as jaundice. In rather seldom cases the blood of the people cannot coagulate. This is very dangerous, because an accident or a more serious scratch may lead to severe hemorrhage.
The Recommended Daily Dose
The recommended daily dose differs from one person to another. There are two factors that influence the dosage. First of all, the age, and secondly, the type of infection that needs to be cured. Basically, the dose for the persons aged 13 or more is of 250 mg daily. This dose must be taken in two equal parts for maximum 10 days. If the infection is very serious, then the dose may be doubled. The only conditions that require other dosage are gonorrhea and early Lyme disease. For gonorrhea, the recommended daily dose is of 1 gram taken in a single dose, while for the latter the dose is of 500 mg taken in two equal ratios for 20 days.
