Generally, Ceftin comes in both liquid and tablet form; the medicine should be taken in proper dosage as its overdose can lead to diarrhea, vaginal discharge, fever, seizure, jaundice, headache, insomnia. In children it can cause discomfort which leads to fussiness.
It is also suggested that this medicine not be combined with other medicines such as probenecid, diuretic, amiloride, bumetanide, ethacrynic acid, furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide, indapamide, metolazone, spironolactone and triamterene as the combination can lead to negative effects on a patient's clinical condition. In order to remain safe from the possible side effects of Ceftin, the should take minerals and vitamin supplements to improve the body's overall health.
One should remember that any possible drug abuse or overdose can lead to seizures, yellowing of the eyes, dark urine, rash on the skin, muscle cramps and persistent sore throat. Consult the doctor if these symptoms manifest. It is also advised that this medicine should be kept out from the reach of the children. It should be also remembered that its overuse may lead to overgrowth of microorganisms. If the patient has no bacteria infection, it should not be used at all. Though this medicine does not cause infertility, please be aware that it can harm an unborn child or a breastfeeding baby.
