Cardarone is the brand name of the generic drug Amiodarone. It is an antiarrythmic medication used to correct irregular heart beat.
How to take Cardarone
It is recommended to take this medication along with food in order to increase absorption. However, if you prefer taking it on an empty stomach, try to take it on an empty stomach everyday. It is also recommended that you stick to the routine schedule by taking this medication exactly as prescribed. Cardarone works best when the drug level remains constant in the body.
Does the drug have any side effects?
Cardarone has been found to potentially cause side effects including fever, cough, chest pain, stomach pain, painful or difficulty in breathing, weakness, dark urine, and paleness or yellowing of the skin and eyes. In certain rare instances, this drug can increase the irregularity of the heartbeats. This medicine is also known to stay in the body weeks and months after it usage has discontinued and the problem of irregular heartbeats may similarly persist.
Does the drug react with other drugs?
Cardarone may react with other drugs such as some HIV protease inhibitors, blood thinners, statins and may lead to complications.
