Cardizem is used for relaxing heart muscles and blood vessels in order to teat problems such as angina,chest pain, hypertension, and irregular heartbeat. The generic name of the drug is diltiazem and the group of drugs to which this medication belongs are calcium channel blockers.
Are there any conditions under which the drug should not be taken?
Yes. It is recommended to take Cardizem only under proper medical supervision. You cannot take the medicine if you have medical problems such as AV block (unless you are using a pacemaker), sinusitis, low blood pressure, or if have had a heart attack recently.
