Desogen is a mixture of female hormones which inhibits egg release from the female ovary, thus preventing ovulation. It causes thinning of uterine lining and cervical mucous. Side Effects

Seizure medications that include primidone, carbamazepine, felbamate and oxcarbazepine along with antibiotics including minocycline, rifampin, griseofulvin, amoxicillin, doxycycline and many other medications should be avoided while taking Desogen. Before taking Desogen, consult your doctor about all the medications that you are currently taking.

If you suffer from diseases such as depression, diabetes, high cholesterol level, gallbladder disease, epilepsy, menstrual problems, or fibrocystic breast disease you should avoid taking Desogen unless otherwise advised and under the care of expert medical advice.

Dosage

Desogen should be taken exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Taking it longer than recommended or in larger amounts may cause other health problems. The first pill should be taken either on the first Sunday after your period or on the day your period begins.
