Colace laxative, as well as Peri-Colace, is among the best solutions for occasional constipation anyone can find. The company that produces these two products has an experience of more than 45 years. The fact that it still is on the market after all this time sustains the performance of the drugs.
Forms of Presentation
This type of laxative is available in three forms of dosage: capsules, syrup and liquid 1% solution. The tablets include in their composition two active ingredients: docusate sodium - which is a stool softener, and senna concentrate - a stimulant laxative. The stool softener permits the fats and water to penetrate the stool. As a result, the fecal material gets softer and natural defecation is performed much easier.
The Colace laxative Glycerin suppositories have an effect that is guaranteed. Glycerin's osmotic effect helps the stool to accumulate water. The suppositories are found in two versions that have different concentrations: 2.1 grams of glycerin and 1.2 grams. The capsules contain either 50 or 100 mg docusate sodium. The containers have 10, 30 or 60 capsules.

The dosage of Colace Laxative capsules depends on the concentration of docusate sodium and on the age of the patient. For persons aged 12 years and more, the recommended daily dose is of 1 to 3 capsules with a concentration of 100 mg or between 1 and 6 capsules with a concentration of 50 mg. For children aged 2 to 12 years, the recommended daily does is of 1 capsule with concentration of 100 mg or 1 to 3 capsules with concentration of 50 mg.
