Some medicines that may interfere with the effect of Ditropan include penothiazines (anti-psychotic drugs), tricyclic antidepressants, and some antihistamines.
Dosage
For adults, the usual dosage of a Ditropan medication is one 5mg tablet taken two to three times daily. Same dosage apply to children more than five years old but it should only be taken twice a day. Dosage recommendations may still vary according to the doctor's advice. It is recommended that you drink a lot of water when taking this medicine. The tablet form of this product should be swallowed in whole instead of crushed or split.
Duration
How long you're supposed to be under Ditropan medication depends on your doctor's advice. Always follow the recommended dosage and do not take it longer than is advised by your physician. This drug is not used to cure an overactive bladder. It is only administered to control the disorder.
Missed medication
For best results, make sure to take Ditropan at the same time each day. If you forget to take it and it's almost time to take the next dose, just skip the one you forgot and take the recommended dosage for the medicine. Don't take two tablets at once to compensate for the time you missed on the medication. Overdose of Ditropan can increase the risk of the adverse side effects.
In case of overdose
Overdose of Ditropan may cause paralysis, delirium, heat stroke, heartburn and dizziness. Make sure to consult your doctor or the nearest poison center should you experience these conditions resulting from overdose.
