For those of you that plan on having custom golf clubs made with the intention of producing more distance and speed on the ball, please read the following information.

Steel Clubs

I used to think that in order to get more distance from my swing the best thing to do would be to have clubs specifically designed so that the clubhead is made of steel. I was always told that steel material will cause the ball to fly further than a club head made from titanium.

Steel Makes No Difference In Distance

Interestingly enough, I found out that if two clubheads are swung at the same speed, one made from steel and the other titanium, the distance the ball will travel is just about even.

Of course I opted for titanium when I had a new set of golf clubs made. This was a benefit because titanium weighs less than steel and so lighten up my load. In addition, titanium clubheads can be made fairly larger than steel ones, thereby offering you a larger "sweet spot" when making contact with the ball.
