Google Alert

To clarify a few things about Google Alert:

  1. You will only be able to get up to 150 results from one account. This may be distributed between up to 5 different sets of search terms
  2. You will only be able to get a maximum of the top 50 results for any search term that you use. This is not dependent on how many results there are but a limit set by Google Alert
  3. The first time that you run Google Alert, it will give you the full results of the first 50 results of that search. From then on, you will only be sent an email by Google Alert when there are new results in the top number of results that you specified
  4. You may change the search terms at any time by logging into your account and then clicking on 'Search Settings' on the left hand side
  5. The default is to give you just a choice of three sets of search terms. In order to increase this to 5, you should click on 'More Option' on the 'Search Settings' screen. This will also enable you to distribute the amount of results you want for each search term as you like
  6. On the 'More Option' on Search Settings you have a choice to click on 'More'. There you will have a choice to do a more advanced search much as you can on Google itself when you do an advanced search
  7. You may stop receiving emails from Google Alert at any time by deleting your search terms or in your search settings, click "More Options...". Then select "Only when I click Run Now" next to "Run searches" and click "Update". Google Alert will no longer automatically perform your search and you will receive no more alerts
