Signing up with Google Alert is a simple and painless process. This is partly due to the fact that Google Alert is not trying to collect lots of information about you in order to sell it or market you products but just wants your email address and a user-name from you.

So quite simply, choose a user name, a password and enter your email address. If you can view html emails, then check the box. If you are unsure whether you can receive html emails, then leave it unchecked. However if you are using Outlook or Hotmail, then you will be able to read HTML emails.
