January 7th, 2009

When it comes to hypnosis, there are actually a number of different types. In this article, we wanted to talk about the various types and the ways in which each is unique and helpful. Today, millions of people around the world take advantage of the benefits offered by hypnosis. Whether to stop smoking, gain better self-confidence, to sleep better, and live a pain-free life, hypnosis is an excellent tool. While hypnosis is not a cure per se, it is a technique used that in some cases, can lead to cures. Therefore, if you are ready and willing to take control of your life and achieve all you can, then you might consider the power of hypnosis.

First, there is the unconscious hypnosis, which is the technique used most often and what people generally think of when they hear the word, "hypnosis". Many experts prefer to use the word, "self-suggestion", since hypnosis is just a suggestion being made to the unconscious mind. If you think about it, every day we have thousands of thoughts spinning around in our mind, some negative, and some positive. For unconscious hypnosis to work, you need to be believe it will work.

Just for fun, set a timer for 10 minutes and on a piece of paper, writer down every positive and every negative thing that goes through your mind. The problem is that negative things like, "I'm not good enough", "I'll never get that promotion", or "I'm too fat", are self-suggestions but negative ones. What conscious hypnosis does is feed your mind with positive suggestions!

You could also think of conscious hypnosis as an expectation. If you have a strong expectation that something is going to happen, you can actually encourage the right outcome. For instance, if you work in a restaurant, you can set your expectations for a promotion and then back those expectations up with proof you deserve it. The outcome - the boss will notice and the promotion will come.

If you read the newspaper, a magazine, or watch television, you are being flooded with unconscious hypnosis in the form of sales. Each commercial or advertisement is pushing you to buy, buy, buy! Finally, unconscious hypnosis involves being aware! When you are aware that you have negative thoughts and beliefs, you can change them to something positive. Again, this type of hypnosis can help you change by the power of positive suggestions.

The next type of hypnosis is conscious hypnosis. Some people believe the subconscious mind is stubborn, difficult to change, which is not true. What the subconscious mind does is hold onto things that are familiar and even comfortable. To make positive changes and improve quality of life, you have to be aware that change is needed. With this, be motivated and devote yourself to mental exercises. Although this requires commitment and some initial time, with dedication, you will have a great payoff.

Finally, there is self-hypnosis. The thing is that you cannot be hypnotized by anyone unless you want to be. By using self-hypnosis, you can get by the judgmental conscious mind. Actually, learning to use self-hypnosis is not difficult. With this, you would be putting yourself in a state and best of all, you can do it anytime you want. After developing your skill, you can use self-hypnosis for many reasons. For instance, you can lose weight, stop smoking, reduce pain, eliminate phobias, reduce stress, improve imagine, and so on. Self-hypnosis can be learned through a series of tapes, CDs, or even books
