Have you ever had an accident with your iPod; maybe you dropped it in the sink while you were doing dishes or perhaps the dog that it was a chew toy? Anyone who has damaged their iPod knows quite well the expense involved with repairs, or worse having to replace it. Manufacturers have created an oPod, which is a protective case for your iPod. Once you seal up your iPod inside the oPod, you still have access to the iPod's touch pad functions. Even though you cannot physically touch your iPod, it will remain completely accessible through the iPod's clear plastic case.

This is a great feature if you do not want to get fish guts all over your iPod while you are fishing on the lake. Attaching the oPod case to your iPod is easy and accomplished in a matter of seconds. To ensure that your iPod has a custom fit, the oPod comes complete with various foam spacers and different headphone adapters. The foam spacers ensure a tight fit for your iPod so it does not rattle loosely around while inside the case. You may wonder why you need foam spacers and the answer is because iPods come in different sizes.

An oPod is a case that protects the iPod from the elements. So, are you thinking about taking your iPod to lounge by the pool or enjoy at the beach? Do you have an oPod to go with your iPod? If not, you may be in trouble. The oPod is an outer cover that is waterproof to a depth of ten feet. Construction of high quality plastic that is transparent and comes in a variety of colors is the type of material that will be surrounding your iPod.

The OtterBox is made of high quality plastic and is durable enough that you can drop it, toss it in sand, or even submerge it without ever damaging your iPod. With this design, you have access to the iPod's controls that require minimal pressure to operate.

The OtterBox has performed numerous amounts of waterproof testing before they put their oPod on the market. The first test called the "Overnight Soaking:" This test consisted of filling the outer case with cotton balls and then soaked it in water throughout the night. If there were a problem with the seal, it would certainly soak a few cotton balls. To the amazement of the staff, the cotton balls were completely dry. The second test called the "Shower:" This test included not only the water from the shower but also the steam. The outer case passed with excellence through steam and water - so enjoy your shower with your tunes. The third test called "An Encounter with Bulldog". This test went a step above being still in the water or shower. They wanted to know how the outer casing would handle movement, so the staff attached it to one of their pet bulldogs! This case handled the running inside and outside attached to the bulldog and was bounced along the steps and kept the iPod. The fourth and last test called "Nine Holes of Golf". This was to test the protection of the iPod during active play. Without any problems, the outer case stayed secure and protected the iPod.

H20 Audio has created an oPod that they call the SV-iMini. This outer case with waterproof headphone will cost you a little over one hundred dollars. If you enjoy cruising on the lake and downloading or listening to your tunes and then have a sudden urge to dive in you can do just that with your iPod protected.

You can also purchase waterproof cases so that you can jog in the rain, enjoy skiing or snowboarding, or lounging at the beach or pool. Some cases come and external jack so that you can listen to your music no matter where you are. Of course, why purchase a waterproof case unless you are going to purchase waterproof headphones. There are many varieties to choose from along with different price ranges.

Aquapac makes a waterproof iPod case that has a built-in headphone jack that is waterproof up to 15 ft. The case will allow you to do all of your favorite water sports activities (or snow) without being bulky as the case is then enough to allow for normal use. This waterproof case also includes a detachable neck cord, carabiner, and desiccant sachets
