Benefits Of Taking Duphaston Tablets During Pregnancy

Pharmacy Drugs

Flomax medication contains tamsulosin, an alpha blocker used in providing symptomatic treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia. It functions not by reducing the size of the prostate but rather by relaxing the arteries and veins in the body so that blood can easily pass through them. Apart from increasing blood circulation, flomax medication also helps to relax muscles located at the prostate and the bladder's neck for easier urination.

Alpha Blockers

Alpha blockers, as those contained in flomax medication, are normally used in treating hypertension and/or benign prostatic hyperplasia. Drugs of this type however are not the preferred first line of treatment for hypertension. Rather, it is best used in combination with other drugs when blood pressure is hard to control or where an increase in blood pressure is attributed to another health condition. As such, alpha blockers is a good form of treatment for men who are suffering from both benign prostatic hyperplasia and hypertension.

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

Benign prostatic hyperplasia is also called as nodular hyperplasia, benign enlargement of the prostate, or benign prostatic hypertrophy. It refers to an increase in the size of the prostate in men of middle and older ages. To be more accurate, the process involving the condition is actually hyperplasia (growth in the number of cells) and not hypertrophy (increase in size), although their nomenclature is commonly interchangeable. The condition is characterized by hyperplasia of the prostatic stromal and the epithelial cells, resulting into the formation of rather large but discrete nodules found in the periurethral area of the prostate. When they are big enough, the nodules can constrict the urethral canal, causing partial or in some cases, the complete urethral obstruction. This obstruction of the urethra disrupts the normal urine flow that can lead to symptoms of urinary hesitancy, increased risks for urinary track infection, more frequent urination, and urinary retention. Although antigen levels that are specific to prostates may experience an increase in patients diagnosed with the condition, benign prostatic hyperplasia isn't considered to be a lesion that is premalignant because of inflammations caused by urinary tract infections and increase in size.

Flomax

Flomax medication is an approved means of treating male urinary symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia. Only a doctor however can diagnose if the symptoms you are experiencing are indeed due to benign prostatic hyperplasia and not prostate cancer. Usual side effects of the medication include dizziness, a runny nose, and a decrease in seminal volume. Sudden decreases in blood pressure might also occur when standing up too fast, with very rare cases leading to fainting.
