Feldene gel is a non-prescription, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for a number of different conditions characterized by inflammation, pain, or stiffness, and is effective for use in treating osteoarthritis in superficial joints like the knees, acute musculoskeletal injuries (caused by overuse of tendons, muscles, and joints), epicondylitis (tennis elbow), periarthritis (tissue inflammation surrounding a joint), tenosynovitis (inflammation of the synovium surrounding a tendon), and tendinitis (or tendonitis; known as any painful disorder affecting the tendon).
Ingredients
Feldene gel contains piroxicam (active ingredient), benzyl alcohol, di-isopropanolamine, carbomer 940, ethanol, propylene glycol, hydroxyethylcellulose, and water.
Contraindications
Feldene gel should not be administered to people who have previous known hypersensitivity to the product or its active ingredient, piroxicam, in any form. Aside from that, it must also not be taken by people who, by taking aspirin or other NAIDs, experience symptoms of nasal polyps, asthma, urticaria (hives) or angioneurotic oedema (angioedema) or are under 12 years of age.

Dosage
Do not use more than what is indicated on label instructions or what your doctor has advised you to use. The product may take about 7 to 12 days before its full effects may be felt. If two weeks has passed and you do not feel a change in your condition, consult your doctor. You might have deeper soft tissue injuries that need more extensive medical attention.
Side effects
Feldene gel is generally well-tolerated but mild to moderate cases of local irritation, pruritus (itch), dermatitis (general inflammations of the skin), and erythema (abnormal reddening of the skin signaling inflammation) can occur on the applied area. In case you encounter any swelling in the areas of the tongue, lips, or face making breathing or swallowing difficult, asthma, wheezing, or sudden and/or severe itching and skin rashes over a large area of the skin, discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention as soon as possible because these tell of adverse reactions to the product or its active ingredient.
