Floxin ru is an antibiotic that is used for treating pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, STDs (except for syphilis), infections of the skin, prostate gland and urinary tract, and pelvic inflammatory disease. The otic solution of Floxin ru is used for treating ear infection.

Ofloxacin is the generic name of Floxin ru. It is able to kill different varieties of bacteria so it can be used for treating infections in several parts of your body. However, if you develop some rashes or any kind of allergic reaction towards the drug, you should stop the treatment and seek immediate medical attention.

On allergies

Occasional and serious fatal allergic reactions are being reported by some users after only one dose, although these are very rare. Signs of allergic reactions include shortness of breath, swelling of the throat and face, difficulty in swallowing, hives, tingling, rapid heartbeat, and itching.

How to take Floxin

Floxin ru can be taken whether your stomach is full or not. However, you need to make sure that you drink a lot of fluids when taking tablets. Never take mineral supplements, pediatric powder, vitamins with iron, or anything with calcium, magnesium or aluminum within 2 hours after taking the prescribed medication.

For the ears

Before treating the ears, you should always wash your hands and clean your outer ear to remove any kind of discharge. Most importantly, do not insert anything into the ear canal. Hold the bottle in your hand for a minute or two so you can warm the drops. Have someone assist you with the ear drops because you should be lying down on your side. The number of drops dependent on the doctor's prescription. Wait for 5 minutes before getting up again.

Side effects

Remember that only your physician can tell whether you can continue or discontinue your use for Floxin ru. The most common side effects for the tablets include insomnia, dizziness, diarrhea, headaches, vomiting, and itching of genitals and vaginal inflammation for women. For the ear drops, you may experience some bitter taste or abnormalities in your tastebuds along with some itching.

Some warnings

High doses of Floxin in tablet form for short periods may delay or hide the symptoms related to syphilis but they are not effective for treating it. If you are taking the drug for gonorrhea, the doctor is going to test you for syphilis and there is going to be another follow-up test after 3 months. If you experience confusion, nervousness, depression, hallucinations, light-headedness, and nightmares during treatment, consult with your doctor immediately.
