An Easy Way To So Simultaneous EquationsSolving Quadratic EquationsLooking at an example: You are given the question x2+5x+4=0 In the above example, a=1 (If there is no number before the x then we can assume that thenumber is 1) b=5 c=4 What we then have to do is find out what x could be equal to in order to satisfy the equation and therefore make it true. In this example, x can either equal -4 or -1 . We don't know yet how we came to this answer, but let's show that both of these answers do work. Putting -4 into the above equation: x2+5x+4=0 (-4)2 + (5*-4) + 4 = 0 (-4)*(-4) + (5*-4) + 4 = 0 16 + (-20) + 4 = 0 16-20+4=0 -4+4=0 0=0 This shows that -4 can be a solution for x Putting -1 into the above equation: x2+5x+4=0 (-1)2 + (5*-1) + 4 = 0 (-1)*(-1) + (5*-1) + 4 = 0 1 + (-5) + 4 = 0 1-5+4=0 -4+4=0 0=0 This shows that -1 can also be a solution for x Therefore, there are two possible solutions, -1 and -4. They must both begiven as an answer to obtain full marks. Once you have obtained the possible solutions for x, is is always necessary to checkthem in the above way A Hidden Silver Default? - SilverSeek.com
Less shyt. :)Ah today was far better than yesterday. Well, at least I didn't have to speak to a crowd of 10 nor play my euphonium. Wah good. Yay Dilys came to find me today so we went Staff Room. Rarh I've got yet more stuffs to do. :( Hais. Tomorrow man. Dilys is so lovely. ? Today was love letter eating haha. Yeah didn't manage to join class cause of duty, but well it was fine. Was super duper touched when Kai Li reserved one for me in class. :) Thanks lovely chairperson! You rock. :D Haha, it's a small Z-map model for 3-axis machiningI’ve been reading about the z-map model for 3-axis milling. A working simulation environment would be very useful for CAM algorithm development. Coarse errors in the algorithms can be spotted by eye from the simulation, and a comparison of the z-map with the original CAD model can be used to see if the machining really produces the desired part within tolerance. Jeff Epler hacked together a z-map model with EMC2 a while ago: gdepth. Perhaps some code/ideas can be borrowed from there. The z-ma Pythagorean triplesMy friend and colleague Hovik explained to me the right way of solving the classical Pythagorean Triples Equation x2 + y2 = z2 in integers. Of course, after change of variables u = x/z, v = y/z we have to solve a slightly simpler equation u2 + v2 = 1 in rational numbers u and v. Then we observe that the line through point (0,1) and point (u,v) has rational coefficients and intersects the x-axis in a point (t,0) with rational coordinate t. Moreover, this projection establishes a one-to-one c High School Grads Adrift In Math.Feb 13, 2008 04:30 AM One-third of Ontario high school graduates are failing or struggling with math in their first term at community college, putting them at a high risk of dropping out. A study of more than 10,000 students who entered college in 2006 across the GTA, discovered 34 per cent scored a D or F in first-term math. Many technology and business programs are now scrambling to offer more than one-third of incoming students catch-up courses in topics ranging from fractions, algebra, rat Silent Weapons for a Quiet War (1954)This document is the doctrine adopted by the Policy Committee of the Bilderburg Group during its first known meeting in 1954. Top Secret Silent Weapons for a Quiet War An Introductory Programming Manual Operations Research Technical Manual WELCOME ABOARD This publication marks the 25th anniversary Lost: A Desmond Saved by a Penny Spurned. Two important things about this week and they're both about time. First, since I was so slack in getting the recap done for last week's episode, I'm gonna burn this one out just as quick as I can. Second, if you thought that having Desmond become unstuck in time was a novel idea, well, you're exactly right. It's an idea that comes directly from a novel. Two words. Slaughterhouse Five. Lots to cover and not much time...or lots of time... Best kiss ever. What is the problem we wish to solve when we try to construct a rational economic order? On certain familiar assumptions the answer is simple enough. If we possess all the relevant information, if we can start out from a given system of preferences, and if we command complete knowledge of available means, the problem which remains is purely one of logic. Tha Multiple Linear Regression AnalysisComments on the previous post remind me that I don't always explain stuff as well as I should. Most of them time, when you read about the latest amazing discovery in social science (left-handed lesbian steamfitters are more likely to live in neighborhoods with lots of one-way streets, or whatever), it's based on some form of multivariate analysis, and the most common method used is called multiple linear regression. That's the case with the prediction of happiness I talked about yesterday, and |
