What Is A Quadratic Equation In Vertex Form

Solving Quadratic Equations

So far, we have only done an example when the value before the x2 isequal to 1. It works exactly the same way though whatever the value is.

eg.
3x2 - 8x + 4 = 0
(The two numbers are -6 and -2)
3x2-6x-2x+4=0
3x(x-2)-2(x-2)=0
(3x-2)(x-2)=0

3x-2=0
3x=2
x=2/3

x-2=0
x=2

Therefore the two solutions here are 2/3 and 2

Completing the Square.

Today we learned how to solve a quadratic equation by completing the square and how to write the equation of a quadratic in vertex form. This tells you the vertex and the AOS. (Axis of symmetry) HW 5.4 pg 304 #17-25; 39-45 Notes

Pseudorandomness for Polynomials

I am currently in Hong Kong for my second annual winter break visit to the Chinese University of Hong Kong. If you are around, come to CUHK on Tuesday afternoon for a series of back-to-back talks by Andrej Bogdanov and me. First, I'd like to link to this article by Gloria Steinem. (It's old but I have been behind with my reading.) I believe this presidential campaign will bring up serious reflections on issues of gender and race, and I look forward to the rest of it. Secondly, I'd like to talk

Depending on the budget in your school some may not have access to handheld gaphing calculators, therefore websties like this can benefit your students. I would use the online graphing calcualtor to assist students in a discovery lesson in which the students will conjecture the applicat

Math Midterm #2(HELP ME!!!)

Friday, February 22, 2008 at 1pm Pacific Standard Time I take midterm # 2 in Math 97. I could use all your high math skills vibes sent this way. Please. I have to pass this class to move onto Math 156 which I need to be all finished with my AA. Prayers are extremely welcome. I think a miracle may be needed. ax^2+bx+c=0 is the quadratic equation. -b+/-the sq. root of (b)^2-4(a)(c)/2(a) is the quadratic formula. x=-b/2a is the formula to find the vertex of the parabola. Complex numbers need t
