An easy word question, but I can't quite get it =(

Hey guys! So I have been struggling with a word question for the past hour, and for some reason I can't solve it.. I'm pretty sure I remember doing this stuff last year in grade 10 too.. I used the quadratic equation, and I tried to change it to vertex form and manipulate it that way.. Here is the question: 8: A football player attempts a field goal by kicking the football. The ball follows the path modelled by the equation h = -4.9t² + 10t + 3, where h is the height of the ball above

Pseudorandomness for Polynomials

I am currently in Hong Kong for my second annual winter break visit to the Chinese University of Hong Kong. If you are around, come to CUHK on Tuesday afternoon for a series of back-to-back talks by Andrej Bogdanov and me. First, I'd like to link to this article by Gloria Steinem. (It's old but I have been behind with my reading.) I believe this presidential campaign will bring up serious reflections on issues of gender and race, and I look forward to the rest of it. Secondly, I'd like to talk

How do we graph quadratic equations?

How do we graph quadratic equations? January 13th, 2008 First, a quadratic equation is of the form where a,b and c are numbers. (”a” don’t equal to zero) The graph of a quadratic function is called a parabola. Parabola takes the shape of a “U” basically. Some parabolas are turn upside down and some are not. If a parabola opens at the top, then it has a minimum, but if the parabola opens up at bottom, then it has a maximum. The maximum and the minimum of a parabola are located at the verte
