What Is A Quadric Equations

Solving Quadratic Equations

Let's have a look at how we solve a quadratic equation:

x2-3x+2=0

The easiest way to solve them is to follow certain steps:

Step 1

Find two numbers where when they are multiplied together equal the firstnumber (a=1) multiplied by the third number (c=2). These two numbers when addedto each other must also equal the second number (b=-3).

In the above example, the solution is -2 and -1.
We can see that when added together the result is -3 and that when multiplied together, the result is 2

Step 2

Rewrite the original equation splitting the middle part into two using thenumbers which you found in step 1.

x2-x-2x+2=0

Step 3

Start to factorise both halves of the equation:

x(x-1)-2(x-1)=0

At this point you will know if you are going along the correct track if thefirst bracket is the same as the second bracket.

Step 4

Collect everything before each bracket and put it into one bracket andmultiply this bracket by that which is inside the identical brackets:

(x-1)(x-2)=0

Step 5

In order for the left side of the equation to be equal to 0, one of the twobrackets must equal 0. So either:

a.
x-1=0
x=1

b
x-2=0
x=2

Step 6

Check these answers:

12-(3*1)+2=0
1-3+2=0
0=0

22-(3*2)+2=0
4-6+2=0
0=0

Therefore the possible solutions for the above equation are confirmed to be 1 and 2

Assignment #1

Read Carefully: For your first assignment I want you to design a three dimensional “scene” entirely using equations and inequalities. Your scene is to contain at least two quadric surfaces or cylinders (or portions thereof). Your scene must include at least one plane that is not parallel to any coordinate planes. Abstract art is frowned upon. Creativity is encouraged. The whole purpose of this assignment is to be able to think mathematically about three dimensions, so don’t try to get by with

Chechebureche and Yada yada over translations

In the Philippines, “Chechebureche” means ”Entailing many useless details or frivolities.” In Mexico, however, it has the opposite meaning; it denotes a lack or absence of certain details. These renditions to the word is taken from Eric Zarate’s Malictionary book as quoted in this site. I sure would like a copy of this book, by the way. Another site says, “Chechebureche” is the same as “kaekekan” and “achuchu”. Ok, so “chechebureche” is a slang or colloquial Filipino word and I just discove

Highly Speculative Concepts Based on Conjectured Extreme Physical Limits of Current Mainstream Theoretical Physics Concepts.

The following article contains speculations which are very far out extentions of current theoretical physics concepts involving extreme physical limits. The reader is encourage to have an open mind while reading this article. Note that this article does not contain any new age promotion or discussions such as about so called beings of light, beings of higher vibrational energy, crystals, astral planes, and other allegded concepts common in psuedoscience, the occult, of space alien/UFO lore.

Math 2D Spring 2008–Assignment one!

Read carefully: This assignment will be due in class April 21. For your first assignment I want you to design a three dimensional “scene” entirely using equations and inequalities. Your scene is to contain at least two quadric surfaces or cylinders (or portions thereof). Your scene must include at least one plane that is not parallel to any coordinate axes. Abstract art is frowned upon. Creativity is encouraged. The whole purpose of this assignment is to be able to think mathematically abo

Three cheers for an uncheerful summer, Cherry Darling.

( written on Wednesday, May 02, 2007 - Last year’s summer ) Sunburn and excessive sun exposure promotes skin cancer. Between 10 AM to 2 PM, the sun is in its peak and is thought to be the most harmful. Sun exposure is greatest during the summertime and so are the risks for developing skin cancer. I should buy an umbrella. The summer was hotter than I expected. And I expected everything to be much better after the Ozone layer showed improvements. If this was Baguio I wouldn’t be complainin
