Rules Of Quadratic Equations That Must Not Be Broken
May 9th, 2008

REMEMBER, that in a quadratic equation:

1. We are trying to find out the solution to x which makes the left hand side of the = sign equal the right hand side of the = sign
2. There will always be two solutions. This is because the x is to the power of 2
3. It is always necessary to check the solutions to make sure that you really do have the correct answers and have not made any mistakes along the way
4. A negative number multiplied by a positive number will always be a negative number whereas a positive number multiplied by a positive number will be a positive number
5. In some questions they substitute the letter x for another letter although in essence you use the same method for finding the value of that letter
