There is no connection between clean code and washing machines in this case! However, your code must be well-written. The aim is to make the job as easy as possible for search engines to find key words on your page and list your site effectively.

The best way to achieve this, is not to use programs such as Frontpage or Microsoft Word to develop your websites, but ideally to write the code yourself by hand. In this way, you will be able to spell out to the search engines exactly what is spelt out within your pages.

Nowadays, search engines send around the web what are called bots or spiders. They don't like to work too hard and if your coding is very untidy, then they may give up and move to another page without indexing your pages correctly
